I am a mother, an educator, and a lifelong learner. Prior to serving in my current position as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, I was a classroom teacher teaching a variety of grade levels and subject areas. Although I enjoyed every moment of my classroom experience, I have learned that my real passion is working directly with teachers.
I started teaching in 1986! I have taught ELA, SS, Science, and Algebra in middle school for 23+ years, 3rd grade for 2 years, and 4th grade for 2 years. I love reading, art, and everything sparkly!!
I consider myself to be a Googler-in-Training! I've been so excited to learn so many fun Google tools and tricks, but the great thing about Google is, there are ALWAYS more tools and tricks to learn :-) My passion within the World of Google is discovering tools for accessibility to allow ALL students to access curriculum. I can't wait for Google Bootcamp!
My name is Heather Siebels and I teach Kindergarten at Ophir STEAM Academy. This is my 22nd year teaching and my 16th year teaching Kindergarten. I love teaching Kindergarten because it is truly an adventure! Kindergarten is exciting, always changing, and never boring. I have also had the opportunity to teach 1st and 2nd grade. I graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Child Development.
My family is an important part of my life! I have 2 wonderful children. My daughter, Kayleigh (17) will be a senior next year and my son, Carsten (15) will be a Sophmore! I am lucky that my husband is also a teacher. He teaches Math at a local High School.
I am a connected educator who believes in seeking answers, asking questions, and collaborating with team members to ignite lifelong learning in students. My lifelong passion is to never cease learning from the world around me! I also love teaching students how to think for themselves!
My name is Melissa Patrick and I am a 7th & 8th grade language arts teacher at Franklin School in Loomis. Previously to joining Franklin two years ago, I spent nine years teaching in Southern California where I was born and raised. I earned my BA from California State University, Northridge and went on to earn my Masters in Education and California Teaching Credential from Pepperdine University. Since attending Google Boot Camp two years ago, I have begun to implement technology into my daily teaching practices and embraced it fully.
Born in San Jose, CA, I grew up moving all over the country with my military father, educator mother, and annoying big brother. I started college with the intent of becoming a film maker, however I decided to pursue a BA in Psychology and MA in Teaching. I recently concluded my second year teaching, and fall in love with the profession every day. I love working at a STEAM school, and try to integrate all aspects of science, technology, engineering, art/ASL, and math to all of my lessons as well as my experiences travelling to 25+ countries and knowledge as a film-maker/artist. I'm a life-long learner who loves collaborative/creative projects, kinetic learning, and jelly beans. Outside of the classroom I spend my time to community involvement through a non-profit organization and coaching and playing roller derby.
I just finished my first year of teaching and am so excited about everything I have learned! I love finding ways to keep my students engaged through technology in the classroom.
& Leader of EdTech
As a middle school science teacher, I have learned how integrate technology into my classroom instruction in order to meet the needs of all of my students. I recently earned my M.A in Educational Technology and take pride in modeling what it means to be a lifelong learner.
As I enter my 8th year in education, I continue to be inspired by the students I teach and the educators I encounter each day. I have had the privilege of attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, for my undergrad and Sacramento State for my masters. Through this experience, I’ve developed a passion for teaching and lifelong learning. At Westlake Charter School, teachers are designers. I’ve been able to design curriculum, integrate technology and supplement with resources that meet the needs of our students. I’m currently a Google Certified Educator and serve as a Tech Lead Learner on our campus. I look forward to this continued journey in Ed Tech to collaborate with other teachers, enhance instruction, motivate students and showcase learning in a new way.
I work for the Loomis Union School District as a Speech Language Pathologist. I serve our preschoolers and students at Ophir STEAM Academy.
I am new to the ins and out of Google. I attended Google Boot Camp for the first time last summer and the GAFE Summit at the beginning of 2017.
I have worked with technology to increase communication since 1992. I love technology - low tech and high tech.
I am excited to be presenting at Google Boot Camp 2016.
